.In.Net Technical and Syntax Specifications
Every domain name must meet the following technical and syntax requirements:
- The domain string must consist exclusively of the letters A-Z (case insensitive), the hyphen character, and the numbers 0-9
- The domain name cannot begin or end with a hyphen
- The registration period of the domain name applied for must be between 1 and 10 years during both Landrush and General Availability
- Internationalized Domain Names (IDNs) must comply with the IDN policy published at https://www.centralnic.com/names/domains/idn#rules
- The domain name can only have two consecutive hyphens (–) in the 3rd and 4th positions, when preceded by “xn” and followed by a label that corresponds with an internationalized domain name containing characters referred to in (c) above
- The length of the domain name must be between 2 and 63 characters for ASCII Registrations. 1 Character IDNs can be registered in Chinese, Japanese & Korean languages
